Site Reliability Engineer

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will help drive the technologies and solutions to enable large scale multi-cloud governance, advance DevOps automation, and the associate self-service capabilities necessary to ensure that AB operates efficiently, securely, and financially well-managed in the public cloud space focusing on Microsoft Azure utilizing operating system stacks such as Windows server and Linux.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will be a key contributor in the success and rapid growth of public cloud usage at AmerisourceBergen.

Assist with establishing best practices and standards normalized across all cloud providers.

Assist the engineering team with migrations for complex, multi-tier application to the public cloud.

Support cloud environments that meet or exceed our usage and security standards.

Work in tandem with our application teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions.

Build operational documentation for on-boarding applications.

Service platform issues in the cloud.

Help to troubleshoot an incident by providing cloud skills, then identify self-healing steps that can be implemented to prevent the issue in the future.

Provide feedback to development teams on code instrumentation and logging.

Respond to incidents as they occur.

Monitor and optimize the performance of operating systems and applications.

Perform regular maintenance.

Other General Duties:

Focus on the Azure cloud and the associated resources including but not limited to Azure Bastion Service, Application Gateway, Recovery and Key Vaults, Network Security Groups, SSH, Storage Accounts and Web Applications.

Participates in short- and long-term planning efforts with stakeholders IT groups.

Works with analysts, architecture, and stakeholders to understand business needs.

Test and Support infrastructure solutions.

Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology.

Makes recommendations to improve security and participates in investigations as needed.

Adheres to security requirements.

Provides audit trails to detect potential security violations.

Maintains operational daily system readiness checks.

Escalates problems as needed.

Manage infrastructure components and services.

Ensures performance meets the present and future needs of the business.

Forecasts utilization patterns.

Defines and ensures continuous monitoring procedures are set according to the standard procedures and requirements.

Recommends enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability and performance.

Analyzes metrics to understand performance and identifies opportunities for continuous improvements.

Investigates alternative methods to expedite problem resolution.

Recommends procedures and controls for problem resolution or creates temporary solutions until permanent solutions can be implemented.

Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify current problems or similar future problems.

Reviews checklists and scripts and organizes changes with the engineering team.

May participate in the development of contingency plans including reliable backup and restore procedures.

Participates in the identification of vulnerabilities and mitigation plan.

Assists in the development of disaster recovery plans.

Supports and helps establish systems environment standards.

Works with auditors and security groups to ensure adherence to governance, regulations, and compliance with policies and procedures.

Assists in developing SLAs or OLAs.

Works with vendors to resolve problems and develop infrastructure solutions.

Documents new or modified infrastructure solutions, modules, test activities/results and other areas such as error handling.

Ensures all documentation is delivered according to specified guidelines.

Proofreads documents for accuracy.

Provides coaching to team members.

Evaluates future technologies and makes recommendations.

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

3 years of IT and business/industry work experience, with knowledge of one process/service.

Understanding and experience in large scale governance and management across multiple public cloud providers.

Understanding of cloud architecture, workload types, migration patterns and tools.

Infrastructure automation experience.

Scripting experience in Python, Powershell, or equivalent.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Experience in networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed network.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.

Ability to understand and identify scope of impact related to changes.

SQL Database knowledge.

Capability to select the appropriate services based on compute, data, or security requirements.

Experience in supporting dynamically scalable, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications on the Cloud.

Maintaining data integrity by implementing proper access control for cloud services.
