Purpose of the job:
Medical Scientific Liaison is acting as primary medical contact for External Experts and engage them in different scientific discussions and projects helping to explore the full potential of Boehringer Ingelheim medications. These engagements follow a global strategy adjusted to local needs and compliance regulations.

Area of responsibility:

  • Build and maintain medical/scientific expertise for the respective product and therapeutic area (cardiovascular and metabolic diseases).
  • Plan, execute and monitor the effectiveness of local medical activities.
  • Act as primary medical contact with external experts (more than 70% of working time spent).
  • Identify, interact and engage with external experts, clinicians, scientific societies and other data-driven stakeholders to understand and satisfy Boehringer Ingelheim and customer needs and drives awareness for Boehringer Ingelheim products in the academic and clinical community.
  • Contribute with medical expertise to cross-functional activities.
  • Provide medical training to ensure sufficient product knowledge of sales department and other departments.
  • Coordinate, execute and monitor the effectiveness of local medical activities and programs such as non-interventional studies, non-trial activities, IIS or compassionate use programs.

Requirements:

  • Preferably MD University degree, or qualified to degree level, preferably in medicine, pharmacy or biological sciences, with sound pharma experience.
  • Preferably previous experience in pharmaceutical industry (medical affairs) or clinical experience.
  • Previous business background (sales/marketing) could be an advantage. 
  • Therapeutic area (cardiology, diabetology, obesity) experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience in the generation, publication, and interpretation of scientific information into clinically relevant data according to criteria of evidence-based medicine. 
  • Strong business mind-set and thorough knowledge of marketing, external customers needs, and compliance necessity.
  • Ability to understand both business and medical needs to create climate of effective cross-functional partnership.
  • Superior organizational, analytical, decision making skills with strategic capabilities.
  • Strong lateral leadership, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and strict compliance with internal Policies is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills (local language, English-fluent).
  • Proactive and professional customer service attitude.
